10 Best Practices for Facebook Business Pages
By Daniel Kemble
1) Check your Facebook page at least once a day. Reply to all pending comments or questions.
2) Be Engaging, posting in a way that catches people’s attention and motivates them to take action. Post questions, fill-in-the-blanks, and photos that ask questions.
3) Always reply to comments using the person’s name, show empathy and respectfully "kill people with kindness".
4) Afternoon Posts gain more social engagement on Facebook so post every day around 1pm to 4pm.
5) Always share events and content on your personal page.
6) Use vibrant informative Event Cover Image on Facebook; for example, vibrant visuals with relevant images.
7) The more unique and original the event is, the more time you should give to promote the event on Facebook. For example, if it is an annual event, you may want to post 3 to 4 months in advance. If it is a small, regular event, you may be able to start creating buzz around the event 1 month to 2 weeks before the event.
8) Do not send the invitation excessively. Pages or people that send out excessive invitations may be flagged for spamming. Encourage other people to pass on the word, because a recommendation from a personal friend is better than an anonymous invitation.
9) Add a compelling description of your event. The Event description is also a very valuable bit of real estate. Always include: WIIFM – “What’s In It For Me” – Make sure to list the benefits for the attendees. You need to provide them with all the compelling evidence needed for them to attend YOUR event.
10) Commenting is one of the best ways to increase the eyeballs on your content. Try to kick off each post with a comment from the Fan page and your personal page to get the conversation going.
